When it comes to baseball in the Mountain 7 District, Abingdon High School still rules the roost with players like Judge Dillow adjudicating victories.
Dillow went 4-for-4, homered, doubled, scored four times and tallied three RBIs as the Falcons cruised to an 11-1 victory over rival John Battle on Wednesday night.
Dillow hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning to put the Falcons ahead 10-0.
“Proud our guys for a solid team win versus a very talented Battle team,” said Abingdon coach Mark Francisco. “Excited to see Judge have a big night at the plate. He’s a very hard worker and he had excellent approaches all night.”
Hayden Reed (2-for-3, three runs, RBI) and Gabe Crabtree (2-for-3, run, RBI) also produced with their bats.
Landon Turman pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings with six strikeouts and four walks for the Falcons. Hudson Large and Elijah Parks polished off the four-hitter.

Elijah Childress walked twice, doubled and scored the only run for Battle. Porter Gobble, Palmer Gobble and Owen Senter had the other hits for the Trojans
Grundy 13, River View (W.Va.) 8
Grundy scored five times in the top of the eighth inning in earning a hard-fought win over the River View Raiders.
Logan Boyd drew a bases-loaded walk to put the Golden Wave (4-2) ahead to stay. Talan Hall’s RBI single, Brady Deel’s RBI groundout and Mason Boyd’s two-run double followed.
Hall and Mason Boyd each finished with two hits. Hall was also the winning pitcher, tossing 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.
Auburn 7, Eastside 1
Jared Lavergne, Landen Marrs, and Zac McGlothlin each had two hits as Auburn upended Eastside for a non-district victory.
Eastside (1-3) received two hits apiece from Phil Clay and Will Johnson. Clay scored Eastside’s only run in the first inning as he crossed the plate on a bases-loaded walk by Brandon Edwards.
Rural Retreat 12, George Wythe 7
Jay Snavely and Trever Shelton each had three hits and two RBIs as Rural Retreat outlasted Wythe County rival George Wythe for a non-district victory.
Justin Walker, Steven Wells and Brody Childers contributed two hits apiece to the offensive outburst for the Indians.
Cade Bralley homered for George Wythe, while Cam Skeens finished with two hits.
Richlands 9, Patrick Henry 6
Bradley Fuller doubled twice and drove in three runs as Richlands recorded a non-district win over the visiting Patrick Henry Rebels.
Parker Ryder had a two-run double among his two hits, while Connor McCracken drove in three runs as well.
Collin Adkins tossed three scoreless innings in relief of winning pitcher Max Herndon.
Trajan Cannon had two hits and three RBIs for PH, while Aidan Monahan and Carter Brown supplied two hits apiece.

Cooper Harris pitched a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts as the Tennessee High Vikings blanked Sullivan East for an Upper Lakes Conference win.
Preston Feagins went 3-for-4, while Hudson Pender was 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the way in terms of run support for the Vikings.
Kaden Hicks had the only hit for East.
Ridgeview 13, Twin Springs 5
Logan Justice went 2-for-3, scored two runs and tallied three RBIs from the ninth spot in the order as Ridgeview rocked Twin Springs for a non-district victory.
Landon Yates scored three times, walked twice and tallied two RBIs for the Wolfpack as well.
Clay Ross and Kalub Mullins each had two hits for Twin Springs.
Castlewood 8, J.I. Burton 0
Jared Glovier struck out 12 in tossing a one-hit shutout as the Castlewood Blue Devils blanked J.I. Burton in a Cumberland District clash.
Jasper Salyer went 3-fo-4 with two RBIs to lead Castlewood at the plate, while Aden Phillips and Brayden Houchins hammered out two RBIs apiece.
Dru Peters had the only hit for Burton.
Tazewell 7, James Monroe (W.Va.) 4
Brody Myers went 2-for-3, scored two runs and tallied three RBIs as the Tazewell Bulldogs bested a foe from the Mountain State.
Axe Compton and Finn Moss did not allow a hit in combining for 5 1/3 stellar innings with Compton striking out 10 in logging five of those innings.
Science Hill 4, West Ridge 0
West Ridge was held scoreless and limited to three hits by Science Hill for the second straight day.
Ryker Hann had two hits for the Wolves, while Parker Senn had the other.
SOFTBALL
Rye Cove 16-9, Johnson County 1-1
Harlee Cress went 3-for-4, scored twice and drove in four runs as Rye Cove rocked Johnson County by a 16-1 score in the first game of a doubleheader.
Jazz Stanley’s three RBIs and Sara Byrd’s three runs were also notable, while Gracie Byrd and Rheagan Waldon supplied two hits apiece. Allison Akers pitched a one-hitter.
In the 9-1 victory in the nightcap, Cress and Kenzie Hood homered in a 9-1 triumph.
George Wythe 5, Rural Retreat 4
Ashley Layne’s three-run homer highlighted a five-run first inning as the George Wythe Maroons scored all of their runs early and held off archrival Rural Retreat for the non-district victory.
Avery Cline’s RBI single and a bases-loaded walk by Madalyn Morris also highlighted the game-opening outburst.
Kailey Davidson homered and Olivia Crouse had two hits for Rural Retreat.
Lee High 4, Twin Springs 3
Jayden Kegley’s two-out RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning gave Lee High a thrilling non-district triumph over Twin Springs.
Kegley finished with two hits, while Avery Weston went the distance in the circle to get the win.
Emma Ross had two hits for Twin Springs.
J.I. Burton 3, Honaker 1
J.I. Burton pitcher Jordan Mooney outdueled Honaker’s Alyssa Wilson as the Raiders edged the Tigers for a non-district victory.
Mooney tossed a five-hitter with nine strikeouts, while Wilson struck out 16 in pitching a five-hitter for Honaker in a tough-luck loss.
Bri Stallard had two hits and drove in two runs for Burton, a two-run single in the fourth inning putting the team from Norton ahead to stay.
Gracie Shelton scored the only run for Honaker on RBI by Rylee Rasnake.
Grayson County 3, Holston 2
Grayson County scored three times in the first inning and that’s all the Blue Devils needed in edging Holston for a non-district victory.
Rily Cobler and Katie Remine each had two hits for Holston and also scored the two runs for the Cavaliers.
Richlands 9, Gate City 0
Adi Moore went 3-for-3 and scored three runs from the leadoff spot as Richlands rocked Gate City.
Averi Fuller and Irelyn Osborne each had two hits and three RBIs for the Blue Tornado, while Alli Hale had two hits, two RBIs and scored twice.
Fuller pitched a four-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts.
Lebanon 13, Castlewood 1
Kaitlynn Morrison went 2-fo4-4 with two doubles and four RBIs as the Lebanon Pioneers pounded Castlewood.
Chloe Couch (2-for-4, three runs, three RBIs), Jaidyn Fields (2-for-4), Abigail Skeen (2-for-4, three RBIs) and Chadyn Musick (2-for-2) were also part of the high-scoring attack.
Musick also pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
Sadie Dingus had the lone hit for Castlewood.

Tennessee High 11, Sullivan East 2
Having been limited to just defense for the entirety of the season, Addie Wilhoit got to swing the bat for the Tennessee High Vikings on Tuesday for the first time this season and she did some walloping.
Wilhoit went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs as the Bristolians won big.
Taylor Carmody, Brooklyn Fuel and Carrington Harris added two hits apiece. Harris also pitched a five-hitter.
Addison Holly and Jada Moultrie each had two hits for East.
