The people of Hull and East Yorkshire are sought for starring roles in a local bakery's first ever TV commercial.

Proud Hull-based business, Jacksons of Yorkshire, is putting the final touches to its first ever TV advert, set to air nationwide this May. To mark the occasion, the bakery is searching for local people to play a special part.

Jacksons is offering 10 residents the chance to bag their 15 seconds of fame, in what is set to be one of the ad’s most iconic scenes.

The advert tells the story of the head baker at Jacksons of Yorkshire, passionately travelling the country to spread the word of Jacksons. His rallying cry will culminate in a final scene outside Hull City Hall, where gathered crowds will celebrate his work.

Local people will have the chance to be part of that crowd, alongside the crew, actors, invited local theatre companies and selected Jacksons of Yorkshire colleagues.

Helena Wright, Marketing and NPD Director at Jacksons Bakery, said: "Having been a part of this city since 1851, we know how important Jacksons is to the people of Hull.

"Almost everyone here knows someone who is in some way associated with the business, so it felt only right that we film here, and involve the people of the city as much as possible.

"Our aim is that the chosen people will get the opportunity to experience something that they wouldn’t normally get the chance to do, whilst helping us to share everything we love about our bread with the nation."

After being filmed in April, the advert will air nationwide from May 19. To register your interest in taking part in the filming, email pressoffice@jacksonsbread.co.uk before midnight on Thursday, April 3.

The participants will be chosen at random and emailed the full details no later than 5pm, Monday, April 7. This is not a paid role.

Helena added: "This advert is not only a celebration of our bread, but also a celebration of Yorkshire. We couldn’t think of a better way to mark our first ever TV appearance than to share the experience with the people of Hull."

Filming will take place on April 9 in Hull city centre. Applicants are required to live within a HU postcode. Because it is a live shoot that will be edited before being aired, there are no guarantees that participants will be shown within the final cut.
