Thomas A. Brelsford, 74, of Montoursville died peacefully surrounded by family Thursday, March 13, 2025 at UPMC Williamsport. Surviving is his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia E. (Martin) Brelsford.

Born August 17, 1950 in Williamsport he was a son of the late Bob and Ada (Davila) Brelsford.

Tom, known for his quick wit and compassionate spirit, was a graduate of Montoursville High School Class of 1968 and Williamsport School of Commerce.

Tom proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army, carrying the values of duty and dedication into his subsequent career. After his military service, he joined the Pennsylvania State Police and devoted 25 years to upholding the law and protecting the community as a State Trooper. Before totally retiring Tom worked security at the Federal Court House for several years. His commitment to service was further exemplified through his active involvement with the Fraternal Order of Police and American Legion Post 104.

A man of many interests, Tom loved the great outdoors, whether he was hunting or simply enjoying the tranquility of Camp Sand Spring. His passion for cars, especially Corvettes was evident to anyone who knew him; he found joy in buying new cars and took pride in meticulously washing and caring for them. Tom’s culinary skills, particularly his famous baked beans, were a highlight at family gatherings and will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of tasting them.

Golfing, traveling, and embarking on cruises were among Tom’s favorite pastimes. His adventurous spirit led him to explore new places and experiences, always with a sense of excitement and curiosity with Patty by his side. His love for practical jokes was legendary, bringing laughter and surprise to those around him. Yet, it was his quiet empathy that truly defined him; he was a good family man who supported and cared for his loved ones in innumerable, often understated ways.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his two sons, Andrew R. Brelsford of Baltimore, MD and Matthew C. Brelsford (Gina) of Hummelstown; four grandchildren, Tyler, Michael, Elise and Camille Brelsford; a sister, JoAnn Sharratt of Buffalo, NY; a nephew James Sharratt and niece Elizabeth Sharratt; as well as several extended family members and dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 20 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 800 Mulberry St. Montoursville. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of fellowship at church following the services on Thursday, to hear the stories of Tom’s funny anecdotes.
