Members of the Media are Invited to the Workshop on South African Border Environment During Festive Seasons

The Department of Home Affairs, in partnership with Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), invites members of the media to a media workshop in relation to 2017/18 festive season plans for the South African border environment.

It is anticipated that there will be a considerable increase in inbound and outbound movement of people and goods at the various ports of entry around the country. The higher numbers of travellers is usually for tourism, cross border employment, business, academic and educational purposes.

The workshop seeks to appraise the media on the approach that government departments and agencies involved in border management control will take to make sure there are smooth operations at our borders during festive season.

The expected outcomes of the workshop is to assist the media in improving their understanding of the ports of entry environment and government better understanding of information needs of the media within the ports of entry.

Members of the media are invited to the workshop as follows:

Date: Thursday, 14 December 2017 Time: 09:30 for 10:00 Venue: GCIS Head Office, Tshedimosetso House, 1035 Frances Baard Street, Hatfield, Pretoria
