Armenia's Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Ambassador Christian Ter-Stepanyan chaired the Francophone Group's plenary session in UNESCO for the first time on Thursday, with 79 member states.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Armenian representative on behalf of the Group informed the French delegation about the great sadness caused by the catastrophic fire that broke out at the Notre-Dame and the Francophone  Group's solidarity with the French authorities and people.

During the meeting Ambassador Ter-Stepanayan attached importance to the promotion of cooperation between UNESCO and OIF, assuring that the Armenian delegation headed by the Group will work towards the deepening of cooperation between the two organizations.

He also presented the events planned to be held during the Armenian chairmanship of the Francophon Group, including the Francophonie group's honorary tribute to Charles Aznavour in 2019.
