Accra, June 21, GNA – The proposed meeting
between the Government of Ghana, led by Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister for
Youth and Sports and the Federation of International Football Association
(FIFA), has been called off.

The meeting was originally fixed for Friday,
June 22, in Accra.

Information gathered by the GNA Sports
indicates that, the move was influenced by government’s decision to seek for
broader consultation before meeting FIFA.

According to the information, government wanted
to have further dialogue with key stakeholders, before meeting the world’s
football controlling body over the recent attempt to dissolve the GFA, after a
video on documentary on bribery and corruption in Ghana football by ace
journalist Anas Aremayaw Anas.

Mr. Elvis Adjei-Baah, head of Public Relations
at the Ministry of Youth and Sports confirmed this in an interview with GNA
Sports.

“We have written to them requesting for a
later date for the meeting so we satisfy all internal factors.

“Government wants to exhaust all avenues and
due process must be followed before the said meeting,” he added.

The meeting between both parties was scheduled
for Friday 22nd June, with a three man delegation scheduled to arrive on
Thursday, June 21.

The meeting was to discuss the current impasse
that has engulfed the GFA after the airing of a documentary on bribery and
corruption in Ghana Football.
