D&AD launches free night school for advertising hopefuls

Global creative education charity D&AD today opened applications for the 2022/23 D&AD Shift with Google program in Sydney.

The free, four month night school champions underrepresented voices and helps self-made talent enter into a creative career.

Delivered in conjunction with leaders from local industry including The Glue Society, The Monkeys, M&C Saatchi, Heckler and Amplify, the program will provide self-made talent with an opportunity to refine their creative skillset, build a network and develop portfolios.

Shift, consisting of real client briefs by global brands including Google, adidas and Kua, talks and mentorship, will provide a supportive and educational space for creatives to gain an understanding of what it takes to work within the creative sector with the ultimate aim of uncovering, supporting and helping secure jobs.

The program which runs in London, New York and Sydney, and will be launching in Germany in 2023, has seen more than 60 agencies, 200 industry instructors and 60 mentors participate and contribute to date.

As a result, 71% of graduates have gone on to secure placements and jobs at leading creative companies.

The inaugural edition in Sydney which culminated in June 2022 has already seen the graduating cohort secure jobs at ABEL, Black Market Coffee, Exceptional Alien and Single O.

Applications open today and run until March 3. Successful applicants will gain a place on the four month night school
running from April 21 with a final showcase of creative work on August 10 .
