The film adaptation of The New Mutants, a spinoff of its long-running X-Men film franchise, has become notorious for its many setbacks and delays. The film, while originally set to release in April of 2018, has been pushed back for over two years thanks to a number of circumstances, including the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The most recent release date is Aug. 28 of this year, but it seems like there may be another potential snag to add to the film's ever growing list of setbacks. According to a tweet from Twitter user Jay Stark, 20th Century Studio's Taiwanese account changed its promotional post from the aforementioned date to "Coming Soon."
The tweet reads, "BREAKING: New Mutants Release date likely affected by Tenet again.... In yesterday's promo post from 20th Century Studios Taiwan, the date of New Mutants still remained on August 28. But in today's post, the date was removed and said Coming Soon..."
Directed and co-written by Josh Boone, The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin/Magik, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar/Mirage and Alice Braga as Dr. Cecelia Reyes. The film arrives in theaters Aug. 28.
