Graduates

Jazmine Nesvik of Alexandria received a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee, on May 11.

Nesvik, who is the daughter of Ronnie Olson and Kris and David Weber and the wife of Tyler Nesvik, received her undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas. She will continue her medical training as a resident in dermatology at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

Tina Kult of Alexandria graduated from the University of Minnesota Morris in the spring with a degree in biology.

Bryce Collins of Alexandria graduated with an international studies degree from the University of Utah on May 2.

Collins was among the 8,465 graduates who were honored during the university's 150th general commencement ceremony. Students in the Class of 2019 ranged in age from 18-72 and earned 9,126 degrees. Graduates represented 50 U.S. states and 68 foreign countries.

The North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton awarded degrees, diplomas and certificates to its spring 2019 graduates. They included:

Alexandria: Brock Erdman and Eric Molden, associates in applied science, John Deere Tech.

Brandon: Michael Schroeder and Darrin Wibstad, certificate in heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration technology.

Garfield: Adam Wussow, associates in applied science, construction management technology.

Holmes City: Joseph Schneider, associates in applied science, architectural drafting and estimating technology.

Brendan Holm of Alexandria graduated from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City, with a degree in industrial engineering and engineering management, during the spring 2019 commencement on May 4. The school graduated 68 students with honors and awarded six doctoral degrees and 53 master’s degrees.

These area students graduated from Bethel University in St. Paul following the spring 2019 semester:

Alexandria: Jana Roste, daughter of Jeff and Lucy Roste, physical education, K-12.

Carlos: Madison Thull, daughter of Ed and Tammy Thul, elementary education K-6.

Angela Teaser of Alexandria has earned an interdisciplinary studies (K-8) degree from Western Governors University.

The online, nonprofit university held its 70th (Orlando), 71st (Cincinnati) and 72nd (Anaheim, California) commencement ceremonies this year to celebrate the graduation of more than 22,000 students from across the country.

St. Cloud State University graduated more than 1,000 students during spring semester 2019. Commencement ceremonies took place May 10. Area students who graduated include:

Alexandria: Clista Bradford, special education; Alyssa Freiderich, medical laboratory science; Caleb Justen, accounting; Carrie Repp, psychology; Micaela Swenson, nursing (magna cum laude) and Theodore Veraguth, environmental studies (cum laude).

Carlos: Rachel Vance, management.

Osakis: Danielle McCourt, medical laboratory science (cum laude); Kyle McCourt, health and physical education; and Morgan Nelson, criminal justice studies and English (summa cum laude).

The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth has announced graduate students whose degrees have been conferred for the spring 2019 semester. Commencement was held May 12 at Amsoil Arena in Duluth.

Emily Peck of Alexandria graduated with a doctor of physical therapy degree. Cindy Fleming of Alexandria graduated with a nursing degree.

Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall awarded 409 degrees to students following the spring session of courses.

Among those to receive degrees were Jefferey Chandler Engler Pooler (exercise science) and Shaun Earl Stottler (management), both from Glenwood. Stottler finished with a 3.5 or higher grade point average and is considered for the dean’s list.

The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire awarded 1,398 degrees in May. Among those graduates was Hannah Wendel of Brandon, who graduated with an education and human sciences, athletic training degree.

Paige Gabrielson of Alexandria was among 833 students receiving degrees from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls following spring commencement in May. Gabrielson graduated cum laude with a degree in animal science.
